Another day at the office

It is interesting to see how many former office blocks are currently being converted into city living apartments

At Norfolk Property Lettings & Management we have successfully let a number of these in recent months to those seeking a modern home in the heart of Norwich.

Among them were eight properties at Grosvenor House on Prince of Wales Road.

This landmark building was home to KFC at street level and a wide range of businesses above, including British Rail, for many years.

It has now been converted into 80 individual, one and two-bedroom homes.

It sits in a conservation area and is made up of two main blocks: one is seven storeys high and faces Prince of Wales Road while the other has five floors and is at the back of the plot.

Appealing to those keen to be close to the train station, as well as to restaurants, shops, cinemas and other leisure facilities, these properties are being snapped up.

Six of the apartments we let were furnished, while two were unfurnished. They all offered good-sized bedrooms, as well as open-plan kitchen and living areas.

There are many other redundant office blocks in Norwich that have – or are – being transformed in a similar fashion.

Among them are the former Aviva offices at Sentinel House on Surrey Street and award-winning Westlegate Tower, at Westlegate.

It is good to see these buildings being given a new lease of life and if priced competitively, there is no reason why apartments in blocks like these should not appeal to a range of city dwellers.

We have seen a number of interesting properties become available to rent recently.

In complete contrast to the city centre apartments, for example, we have Staithe Cottage at Bramerton.

This unique, two-bedroom, single-storey house (available for £876 per calendar month) looks out over the River Yare.

It offers glorious views and the chance to enjoy stunning sunsets, and would appeal to anyone seeking tranquillity, seclusion and natural beauty.

Whether you love the hustle and bustle of the city centre or a quieter life in the Norfolk countryside, we can help you to find your perfect home.
